Want Playstation 3? Better get in line!!!

With the release of playstation 3, not unlike any other video game console releases, their will be a mass frenzy ahead. The new 60 gigabyte machine is causing people all over the world to get in line at their nearest circuit city or wal-mart. Japan released the console first with a great reaction. Some of these games can be seen on ebay now.

"The 60-gigabyte edition of the PlayStation 3 has a retail cost of $599, and
a 20-gigabyte version is $499. Sony released 100,000 new PlayStations in Japan
last Saturday and those Japanese versions are going for as much as $2,000 on
eBay."

Playstation for the first time will now have movie and mp3 playing capabilities along with text and video messaging, and is compatible with the new Blu-ray Discs, a new high-definition DVD format. This is a big step forward for sony since ps2 was merely a game and movie console. Sony will be competing with Nintendo's Wii through Christmas and will be interesting to see what happens.

Sweet Sounds of the Gaming World...

"Game composer Marc Canham believes that games now have the power to break new bands."-Emma Boyes GameSpot U.K

There is now speculation that in many ways, video games are the new MTV. Game Producers now allow breaking bands to be seen by using there songs to feature in the soundtrack of the game.

"Canham has worked on the musical compositions for games such as Getaway: Black Monday, Driver: Parallel Lines, Heavenly Sword, Act of War, and Reservoir Dogs, among others. "

These are games that need more adventurous soundtracks. so therefore they now use real songs to give life to there games. The point of this is that game producers now give breaking new bands the chance to be seen. much like the purpose of MTV. bands get paid very little, but what better way to get promotion than having thousands of people buy and listen to your music. I always like to here stories like this... it just keeps reminding everyone of whats to come in the future...

To Online Gamble or Not to online gamble.

Though Online gambling pose a risk to underage children it may not pose such a threat to our economy according to a Chicago Paper.

"David Carruthers, CEO of BETonSPORTS plc, stated, "Millions of consumersin the U.S. gamble online, and we want to set the stage for hosting a safeInternet site
with sensible regulation benefiting not only the consumer butthe government.
Online gambling allows the government the opportunity tocapitalize on revenues
upwards of $100 billion, which is the amount Americansbet on sports every year
on the street and on college campuses."

This form of entertainment will not online raise money but it would last for a very long time to come. So take way the superbowl pools and illegal gambling going on in the street and just legalize it and give it a name. Though dangers in the hands of those who may not be well informed and mis guided , the rewards would be much greater than the risk.

Children at risk Of Online Gambling

Underage Gambling has been an issue to young adults arriving to Casinos through out the United States with fake I.D and posing as an older individual. Now with online casinos things have been made alot easier. Young Children are given the oppertunity to pose a fake name and adress and yurika!!! Texas hold-em is right there. The anonimity of the internet does make life easier for children to hop the wall of boundaries, as most may pose as their parents in order to play.
"According to a recent study by the American Psychological Association, 4 to 6
percent of children aged 12 to 17 are pathological gamblers, while only 1 to 3
percent of adults are estimated to be problem gamblers. "

If these facts are true than there is a big problem. Now the question might arise whose fault is it. The parents for not keeping a better eye on their children. The online casino marketing team who seems to be pitching an online casino ad to almost every web site...? Maybe both! The study of children and onlibe gambling done by the APA belive that "Children with compulsive gambler parents are far more likely to have issues with gambling themselves. According to the survey 75 percent of problem gamblers' children reported that their first gambling experience occurred before the age of 11. " Now whether it is society to blame, parents or the video games, hey lets just blam Bill Gates, doesnt matter who we blame the consequences may unfotuanetly all together be the same. And this team gabling will be on the rise if something isnt done about it. To read more click here.

hhmmm... I wonder...

one thing that many debate about is what is the future of the world going to be like? well many wont know till it happens but we as gamers can not only see but interact with what the future might be. the cool thing about video games is that it gives us a chance to explore the future so to speak. you got the internet which is awesome, but then you have this other branch in social networks that lets you take more control. sometimes you control another person. sometimes you get to create your own city or vehicle. who knows maybe this is so that devolopers can get a taste of what people like. nonetheless, the video game is a tool for shaping the future. the struggle is in making sure that we as gamers shape it out well...

New Gambling Law might be in effect

"Congressional leaders are trying to forge a compromise that would allow them to push through legislation banning most forms of Internet gambling, aides said on Thursday.
Top House and Senate lawmakers have been trying to break a logjam that has stalled the Internet gambling legislation by attaching it to any one of a number of must-pass spending bills before the end of the year, aides said. However, they have yet to agree on a final deal.

The bill would prohibit most forms of Internet gambling and make it illegal for banks and credit card companies to make payments to online gambling sites."

Internet Gambling Illegal?

Why does internet gaming have to be illegal. If people are able to go to casino's and gamble what is the difference by them being in their homes doing the same thing? I think that all these casinos had a big influence in this. They don't wan't to lose money. By people playing and betting online they are not going to the casinos and spending their money there. This link im putting is an interview on 60 minutes talking about why it is illegal.
